Asheville Community Theatre will celebrate its 65th anniversary season in 2010, and Montford Park Players has been offering free Shakespeare since 1975. The Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre has presented a summer repertory season in Mars Hill, a few minutes to the north, for almost 35 years, and Haywood Arts Repertory Theatre (HART) in nearby Waynesville is thriving during its second decade.
